Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Rains County Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other message may be retained as needed to answer it. We keep that communication within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems automatically receive basic technical information when a page loads, including:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring site, when one is supplied
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Browser type and version
- Device and operating-system type
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show aggregate use, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers assist with that measurement. A browser can block cookies, though disabling them may change how parts of the site function.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Rains County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to records held by the Rains County sheriff and courts, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs access to many government records, while Government Code Chapter 411 controls criminal-history dissemination. Visitor information is not compiled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal file, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the chosen provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention, use, and disclosure rules, so review those terms before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Rains County offices, Texas agencies, court systems, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Review them before providing personal details.
Some advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across sites for interest-based ads. We do not operate that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- Advertising networks that serve ads
- Search providers that process a submitted query
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information we collect. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
The Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, Texas Business & Commerce Code Chapter 541, may provide eligible Texas consumers with rights concerning personal data, subject to its coverage limits and exceptions. The Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act appears in Business & Commerce Code Chapter 17. Depending on the law that applies, a visitor may:
- Request deletion of qualifying personal data
- Ask to correct inaccurate personal data
- Obtain access to qualifying data held about that person
- Opt out of processing when applicable law grants that choice
